Popularity of Twenty20 overtakes County Championship

This week’s news has not made comfortable reading for the ECB. The England team will be seeking a new sponsor, and the future shape of the $20m Stanford Twenty20 is uncertain. But the present and future for Cricket following in England looks healthy. One in four adults follows Cricket, the Twenty20 format is now more popular than the County Championship, and it is bringing in new fans.

Latest data from BMRB Sport shows that 23% of English adults (9.6 million) claim to have followed Twenty20 in the last year, compared to 20% following traditional County Cricket.

SMS text survey provides fastest feedback from Mail readers

BMRB Media has been running the My Life Mail reader online panel for almost two years. We have a collaborative relationship with our client and we continually seek fresh ways to interact with our participants.

The latest challenge?

To deliver insights back to the Mail within 5 hours and by 5pm. This challenge may not seem exceptional. However, Mail panellists tend to complete their online questionnaire in the evening. We therefore had concerns that our usual online survey method would not generate a representative sample of readers during a typically nonresponsive time of the day.

Metro appoints BMRB for Urban Life 2009

BMRB has been commissioned by Metro to undertake Urban Life 2009. Urban Life is an online panel survey of Metro readers.

The survey results help generate unique insights on their target audience; in particular their behavioural patterns, their thoughts on topical, newsworthy events and their perceptions of brands, products and services. Urban Life was launched in 2002 and BMRB and Metro have been working together on this project since its conception.

Are men more likely than women to spend their way out of the recession?

Women are more likely to take a prudent approach to their finances while men are more bullish, according to latest findings from the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) Consumer Confidence Survey.

Only 1 in 10 adults say they definitely feel financially secure in the current economic climate, but women (6%) are less than half as likely to feel financially secure as men (14%).

More women are likely to have cut back on purchases recently (75%) than men (67%). Indeed men seem to have a much more gung ho attitude with 29% spending “exactly as I did before” compared with…
